Wish I Could You Again for the First Time

  • Tons.... simply to name the two most recent ones:

The Forgotten Metropolis - 10/10, amazing experience, fantastic writing, setting, etc.. and every twist is legitimately a good one. I played this as a "filler" game while I waiting for something else to finish downloading and ended upwardly spending my unabridged weekend on it. You can crush the game in a few hours only this is one y'all'll go on to spend a bit of time with afterward beating it the beginning time.

Outer Wilds - This was the game my childhood dreamed would be someday and it finally does. I wish I could go through it blind once more. No other game has ever come up this close to really nailing exploring a truly alien solar system and trying to effigy out "wtf" ... it'south an absolutely wonderful experience.

  • KOTOR, Bioshock, Starcraft Broodwar. The plot twists in the games were 1 of the most memorable and I loved them for it. Those stick out to me as one of the best writing leading up to a fantastic ending.

Edit: After some thought, I would similar to add Mass Issue Trilogy and Horizon: Null Dawn. The stories were absolutely fantastic and I actually honey the endings of both of them. 1 of those moments where yous finish and you sit there and think about how freaking amazing that was.

  • Difficult to pick just one. So hither are a few I'd pick from over my years playing:

    • Metal Gear Solid from PS1 - Nada like it existed yet.
    • Uncharted 2 - Starting time game was peachy but this was the peak of Uncharted.
    • Horizon: Zero Dawn - This game just hit for me on so many levels.

  • I would beloved to play Asheron's Call again for the first fourth dimension.  That was the original graphic MMORPG game.  What a blast that was.

Was this post helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

  • Possibly World of Warcraft, not necessarily for the time information technology'd take to replay it all, but they built such an interesting globe with a LOT of separate storylines that can exist very enjoyable to play through. non sure about the well-nigh contempo few expansions though.

  • If y'all bang your head real hard, every game you play is similar playing it for the commencement fourth dimension

  • VikingMichael I take to say I love those Sierra games for certain. I used to play them with my neighbours and we were hooked on them. I could never do King's Quest at all, that ane just collection me nuts. Space Quest three I recollect existence fun I call up I finished that one likewise but lets be honest a lot of them you lot needed to have that walkthrough or just do a lot of guessing to get through some parts for sure.

  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Vii Stars. It'due south the game that got me into RPGs, and got me paying attention to Square. I've pretty much memorized the entirety of it, and back when I was a kid I made a ritual out of playing through it once again on both Summertime and Christmas breaks. Upwardly until that moment I had never played a game that was so open, gave you lot and then much to explore, and actually told a decent story. It's dirt easy as someone who understands RPGs, merely a fantastic RPG 101 for children or people new to the genre.

Persona 3: This one is odd because if I hadn't been directly lied to nearly what this game was, I wouldn't have played it. I was told it was a horror RPG with  Lovecraft and Religious flavoring, which is about as true as saying that a apartment tire withal technically has some air in it. Information technology'southward a weeb-trash school simulator with some very mild horror flavoring and dungeon crawling. It is to horror what Pizza Flavored Pringles are to actual Pizza. That said, the characters are all marvelously written, the music is fantastic, the story is pretty good, and the game itself is fun. It also hit me at the perfect fourth dimension in my life where I was fresh into college and right out of high school.

Phoenix Wright: Justice for All: As you can probably imagine, mystery and detective games aren't really that not bad on your 2nd and third playthroughs. Plot twists just surprise you in one case, and Case two-iv'south scene with the true culprit and the wine drinking glass is my favorite scene in any form of media ever. And different the lift scene in Grave Encounters 2, it's non one brilliant idea surrounded by a ton of trash.

  • ane. Ocarina of Time - and by a state mile at that
    2. Sekiro
iii. The Terminal of Us (could nosotros combine this with removing the being of part 2?)
    iv. Bloodborne
    v (tie). Resident Evil/RE2/RE3/RE4

  • Mass Effect Trilogy

Was this post helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

  • Probably Chrono Trigger or FF7 just there's been a lot of good choices posted hither so far so its hard to choice but i.  Another good ane would be the concluding ii expansions of FF14, fantastic stories, the unabridged thing would be a bit much...  There are a lot of games I'd similar to play again for the first time merely I think at that place are fifty-fifty more shows\movies I wish I could re-picket in the aforementioned way.  Showtime ones that come to mind are BSG(the newer one) and Dexter.

  • MrBadguy Persona 3 is also my reply. It was the game that made me really fall in dear with games and the stories they tin tell.

Would exist one of my picks too. Luckily for me, I wasn't misled virtually it's nature. I played it in preparation for Persona 4 Arena, and the blurb on PS3 describes it every bit an RPG where you lot residuum school life and dungeon itch, the sort of crazy thing I'd selection upwards anyway if I was trawling for PS2 games at a store. I loved everything well-nigh it, and thought the aesthetic was very absurd. I also powered through information technology in college, except that my save file disappeared once so I played it a lot more than I planned to. The social links are bang-up side stories to explore. I'thousand curious about the PSP port, it's nigh universally regarded as better, but I don't recollect I could deal with the hardware limitations.

Along those lines, Persona 4 is besides a game I want to forget about to feel once again. It'due south not as coherent of a package as P3, and honestly it'south not quite as skillful overall, merely I got then invested in the characters. P3's cast doesn't actually warm upwards to the protagonist quickly, and they're pretty serious nearly the main storyline. P4's cast is super welcoming and pulls the protagonist directly into their friend grouping, simply at the aforementioned time, are somehow about to go most their anime high school lives despite having to investigate an active serial killer. It's a jarring thing to realize and definitely the flaw with the writing, only I had and so much fun getting to know them, hanging out with them, going on vacation, and such, it was heartbreaking to have to say goodbye at the end. I tried to jump right back in to get-go on the platinum, but I dunno, information technology didn't feel nearly as good. This is likewise mode more than anime than Persona 3 so I can't recommend information technology if that's a turn-off.

I watched my mom's friend'south son cease Super Mario RPG as a little kid, merely was too young to really understand what was going on other than Mario, Peach, and Bowser working together for some reason. I have since gone dorsum and played it, excellent game. However, you mentioning that reminded me well-nigh the Paper Mario. Playing that felt so wild the first time. I had played Phantasy Star on the Genesis, and knew most Super Mario RPG as mentioned above, merely getting a Mario RPG on the Nintendo 64 was so crazy. The game itself turned out to be a lot of fun.

I would say World of Warcraft, but the stipulation is that everyone has to be playing it for the first time once again. Getting in on MMORPGs twenty-four hour period one is a lot of fun and the fact that I often miss launches is why I don't get into them very oftentimes nowadays. Similarly, I would beloved to play PSO2 totally fresh, but simply if we got content at the aforementioned schedule as the Japanese did, because it's way besides much otherwise.

  • A Manner Out. Two-player coop game with a bang-up twist at the finish. My married man and I are replaying it and don't remember which characters nosotros were last time, but it's just not the aforementioned when you know the ending.

World of Warcraft, only if information technology had the improved game play information technology has now. It would exist fun to become through the story again for the first time, just that grind to level was atrocious.

    Diablo 3

  • I retrieve anyone who has seen my posts and my answers to ConanTheSystemAdmin'due south weekly "what did you play this weekend" posts. I am a big Halo fan, and I would like to play Halo three for the commencement time again. It's such a good game and there were so many questions I had because it was the Halo game I played. I didn't have an Xbox every bit a kid and so I never got a chance to play Halo: CE and Halo 2. I played local split-screen at a friend'due south house me and my brothers shortly wanted our own Xbox360.

It felt a bit more like a natural development of relationships where people take to earn each other's trust, and avoids the trope of anybody instantly liking the new kid.

I likewise heavily suggest going though P3 Portable on the female person Protag's route. She has way more than personality than the Male person Protag, and you see totally different sides of characters than the Male person ane does. Junpei doesn't react well to the Male Protag immediately getting squad leader condition the offset time you all get dungeon crawling, but reacts EXTREMELY negatively when the Female Protag gets ranked above him. A lot of the other relationships are affected accordingly as well, peculiarly Yukari and Mitsuru'southward. Her route also fixes the stupid oversight of non existence able to hang out with party members like you lot tin can in P4, which was vital to really excavation into those characters. That's probably why and so many people like the P4 cast more. The P3 cast are simply co-workers in all but the Female person Route in P3P, the P4 cast are actually friends you hang out with on the weekends. The but matter you lose in P3P is the ability to walk effectually a lot of the in-town areas. They are reduced to static maps, only it doesn't hurt nearly as much as that sounds. The portable version adds likewise many good things for that small hiccup to ruin the experience.

That actually makes a lot of sense and I'1000 probably not the only person who desperately wants to know why Atlus made the enhanced versions portable exclusive. I have a PSTV so I can easily play them as console games, but information technology near feels like a troll given how the PSP and Vita performed in sales, not to mention the PSTV beingness a existent flop. I would check P3P out simply I'm never sure if I have the time to sink into a JRPG. It's why I all the same don't have P4 Gilt's platinum trophy.

That said, I actually like blue haired emo Jesus. I always found his interactions with the townsfolk to be funny given his edgy, aloof aura.

Stumbling into the series was seriously eye opening though, and I'm jealous of anyone who gets to play the modern Persona games for the first time.

  • Dragon's Lair - Not since Tennis for 2 or Spacewar, and likely never again, has there been such a dramatic shift in what games had the potential to be than Dragon'south Lair. In an historic period where circles were more theoretical and abstract than doable goals and color, voice and multichannel music was in its infancy along came a game with Disney quality animation, full theatrical orchestral scores and motion-picture show quality vocals. It took 25 years just to be close to duplicating the quality on non deejay based media. Information technology was as if a 21st century game got dropped into the arcades of 1983.

Today the game may look about as exciting as navigating a clever menu on a DVD only back and then it was practically magical. I retrieve spending visits to the arcade doing trivial more than watching the attract style in awe.

Even VR lacked the affect as that eased into being as lilliputian more than than wireframes and has slowly gained quality over the years. To match the impact of Dragon's Lair it would accept had to have gone from wireframes to say the quality of the Matrix in Unreal 5 tech demo quality overnight. That spring from primitive to mind blowing would accept to exist at that place in addition to the various tracking elements.

I would love to experience that feeling once again and I wish you could too.

    • Mass Effect ii - I was going to become with the whole trilogy merely ii has always been my favourite. I loved building my team and and then doing the Suicide Mission.
    • Half Life two - the Ravenholme level had so much atmosphere and the Gravity gun was so cool.
    • Deus Ex - this was my outset RPG. I admittedly loved playing the game my way and the plot blew me away over twenty years ago.
    • Horizon Zero Dawn - this was the first game I played on the PS4 and it was an admittedly perfect gaming experience (it was either this or God of War)
    • Batman: Arkham City - I did bask Arkham Asylum but this is my favourite. Information technology built on everything nifty with Aviary and came with a truly shocking ending.
